Transfiguration included in new Regional Catholic Middle School

We have some important news to share with you. Transfiguration School has decided to take part in plans for a new Regional Catholic Middle School. This new school will be an Archdiocesan school that will involve several parishes, including St. Mary of the Annunciation (in Fremont) and Santa Maria del Popolo (in Mundelein). This school will begin classes in August 2010, for the 2010-2011 school year.

Many parents have expressed a desire for an updated curriculum focused on the unique needs of middle school-aged students. This new Catholic middle school will be focused on the educational needs for these higher grades, better preparing students for high school. Our goal is to provide a Catholic middle school environment, using the middle-level educational methodologies, where we can best prepare our children for continuing education.

This new middle school will combine grades 6, 7 and 8 of the participating schools and will be co-located with one of the existing schools, yet to be decided. The three existing schools will all still operate through the 5th grade in their current locations.

We know that there are several questions that have yet to be answered, and now that Transfiguration has chosen to participate, an Executive Board comprised of representatives from all three schools and parishes can begin answering them.
